About Lunir

We've seen this problem at every organization. Every scale.

Lunir was built by two people who spent decades on the inside of enterprise security, watching the same compliance failures repeat for the same reasons, at some of the most demanding organizations in the world.

Why we built Lunir

Most vulnerability backlogs are not years of work. They are a small number of real risks buried under scanner noise that no team has bandwidth to sort through manually. Once you separate what is actually exploitable from what is not, the compliance gap that looked insurmountable closes fast.

Finding that signal, fixing what is real, and delivering a report that holds up under audit: that is the work most organizations never get to. Not because the problem is unsolvable, but because no one has given them a faster way to do it.

Tab and Chad had each lived that problem. On different sides of the table, at different organizations, but the same broken process every time.

How this started

Chad was a customer of Caliber Security Partners before he joined Tab's team as Head of Technical Services. What began as a client relationship became years of close collaboration across complex security engagements, and a shared conviction that the tools available weren't solving the right problem.

Tab brings the business relationships, executive credibility, and go-to-market experience that turn a technical solution into a company. Chad brings the deep security engineering background and product instincts that make the solution work. They've operated this way for years. Lunir is the next chapter.

The Founders

The people behind the work

Tab Pierce
Tab Pierce
Co-founder

Tab has spent 26+ years bridging the gap between technical security challenges and executive decision-making. He founded Caliber Security Partners in 2010 with a clear conviction: that security only works when it's connected to business outcomes, not siloed from them. He's a published author, an active advisor, and the person in the room who makes complex security problems legible to the people who have to act on them. At Lunir, he leads strategy, client relationships, and go-to-market.

Chad Butler
Chad Butler
Co-founder

Chad brings 24+ years of hands-on security engineering to Lunir, with programs built and led at Amazon, Disney, and SAP, organizations where the cost of getting it wrong is measured in real consequences. He founded Mission InfoSec and teaches at the SANS Institute, translating complex security concepts into practice for thousands of practitioners. At Lunir, he drives product architecture, technical direction, and the deep analysis methodology at the core of SCR.
